- Oral Medicine is the specialty of dentistry that deals with Diagnosis and Management of diseases of Oral and Para oral structures; is concerned with the oral health care of medically compromised patients and with the diagnosis and nonsurgical management of medically related disorders or conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region, and management of behavioral disorders. It lies at the interface between medicine and dentistry.

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is a specialty of dentistry and discipline of radiology concerned with the production and interpretation of diagnostic images, produced by all modalities of radiant energy that are used for examining the craniofacial, dental and adjacent structures.
Vision:
- To be recognized as one of the finest departments of learning in India and gain recognition in the global area of oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial radiology.
Mission:
- To impart and disseminate knowledge through evidence-based approach and to develop competencies in oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial radiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- To make available the research in the emerging areas of health sciences and technology etc. and create a centre of excellence in research.
- To provide quality health care to patient on evidence-based practice.
OBJECTIVES OF DEPARTMENT
- To foster excellence in education, research and patient care in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology.
- To train students in clinical and radiological skills as applied to oral and maxillofacial region.
- To provide the best treatment possible to patients reporting with oral and maxillofacial disorders by following evidence-based diagnostic and treatment protocols.
- To provide avenue of referral for dental practitioners who have patients with severe, life-threatening medical disorders or complex diagnostic problems involving the oral and maxillofacial region that requires ongoing non-surgical management.
- To improve the quality of life of patients with medically related oral mucosal diseases.
- To focus and educate on the latest imaging modalities and its applications in dentistry.
- To train the students for acquiring knowledge, necessary skills and attitudes required for carrying out clinical and radiographic aspects for forensic odontology.
